I was believing it, but then back in the 80s I also believed some of the men I met on match.com and I've had quite a few catfish incidents that have left me suspicious of anyone and everyone on the Internet. It would be nice if it was true but the last two messages were a bit too sus in my opinion because there are other methods of communication besides signal. You certainly wouldn't want someone sending you a link only for you to click on it and voilà! Hacked.
I assume Oliver has interns (or whatever) competent to mimic his style in response. In other words, I think this is real correspondence, though second-hand. If I'm right, I don't think it's "wrong" for him to do this, because he must have time constraints. I may be wrong--but in any event I don't think this was in any way mean-spirited. "Oliver"'s responses are just too well written. This is a fabulous post!
I agree! My issue was the real it’s to download Signal. The tone quickly changed there - and I tried two more times to connect but got no answer. I did post a link to the Substack on LAST WEEK TONIGHTS BlueSky page… so we’ll see if anyone picks it up. I guess it could’ve been a very zealous evangelical person who wanted to hack me or get me to say something incriminating? I don t know.so weird.
Some people will go to great lengths to sucker someone into a scam or worse.
I would think he'd be pretty busy, even though he just had month break and did go to minor league baseball game.
Even with a room full of writers and assistants who can run out and get dark chocolate orange Milanos and fancy coffee, people who produce TV shows are darned busy.
